Mission & Vision

The AMSA Foundation works closely with the American Medical Student Association in its mission, vision, goals, and activities.

AMSA’s Mission:
The American Medical Student Association is committed to improving health care and healthcare delivery to all people; promoting active improvement in medical education; involving its members in the social, moral and ethical obligations of the profession of medicine; assisting in the improvement and understanding of world health problems; contributing to the welfare of medical students, interns, residents and post-MD/DO trainees; and advancing the profession of medicine.

In working toward this mission, the AMSA Foundation focuses on three initiatives that incorporate facets of the overall mission and vision of AMSA.

Using innovative methods, this forward-thinking Center educates and conducts research on the healthcare workforce, healthcare systems, and medical education, reaching both future providers as well as the general public.

Through its Leadership University projects, AMSA helps fill the gaps in medical education and ensures that future physicians are armed with the necessary information to become leaders in their own communities, at the national level, and even internationally.

Student Action Center projects encourage students to use their energy, enthusiasm, and education to create change in communities around the country.  Projects educate medical students on the physician’s role in public health and preventive care.
