Global Health Scholars
This comprehensive 8- month long program
allows promising, motivated health professional students
to develop advanced advocacy, communication, and critical
thinking skills with which to effect change in global
health. |

Paul
E. Farmer, MD, PhD, founding director of Partners
in Health, subject of the book Mountains Beyond
Mountains, and author of important public health
works, is a Global Health Scholars guest speaker.

The
Scholars are guided through critical analyses of existing
literature and policies on global health and human rights
through structured readings and discussions with international
leaders in the field.
Overall, the Global Health Scholars
Programs aims to provide
creative, passionate and intelligent students with the
resources they need to bring to fruition responsible and
innovative solutions to global health crises. AMSA anticipates
that Global Scholars will be the future LEADERS in the
realm of global health and human rights. |

- A synergistic, resource-rich
environment in which to develop and pursue meaningful
solutions for pertinent issues in global health
- Networking with like-minded individuals,
including international leaders in the field such as Stephen
Lewis, Paul Farmer, Mardge Cohen and Saranya Kurapati
- An unique opportunity to focus
on the human rights aspects of health through themed readings
and discussions
- Skill building and leadership training
through writing, speaking and advocacy components of the
curriculum
